Also, because I actually remembered to save my progress for comparison here are the steps I followed:
I'm never overly organized when it comes to digital painting - my method basically varies depending on how I feel like doing things that day. Normally, if I'm gearing myself up for a big, elaborate painting, I'll do much more research-sketching beforehand, and usually on paper. But this was first going to just be a thing I did on the side from my other projects, so I didn't really put much thought into anything. :P
