Finished my last exam ever at CCNB today - SO HAPPY. We still have a lot of work to do to get ready for our exhibition's opening night, which is Thursday, but no more schoolwork yaaaaay! It's almost weird though...

I was also very pleased with today's weather - I got to go jogging this morning, then had my coffee outside... then cleaned the kitchen because I was just in that much of a good mood. C:

Gestures in black pen. And hands because hands hands HANDS. Still not gonna be able to go to life drawing for a while, siiiiiigh this summer I really need to buckle down!

Original characters!

Another sticker for the con - VOCALOID Rin Kagamine. I'm soooooo behind schedule, but things have just been insane these past two months! I'll finish Vocaloids for sure and maybe do some Dragon Age 2 characters then re-touch my Eeveelutions, but I think that'll be it. I'm almost tempted to do some A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones characters just to feed my fandom needs but I don't think Animaritime has the right audience for it...

Life drawing this week (last week's was cancelled), I felt like it went really well for me (despite a few mishaps with the model), especially compared to last time I went where I felt like I just forgot how to draw or something ahaha ;_;

1 minute I believe

5s and 10s

Wish I could have finished this! Oh welllll

20 minutes - he moved a lot during this pose, the angle was very different at the end @w@

20 minutes - the color scheme on this reminds me of Rainbow Dash so bad

Another study, photo reference used of course! I'm trying to squeeze more of these in my schedule, not really aiming for perfect rendering just trying to get shapes and lighting down path. I think I will thoroughly study the crap out of everything this summer when I have more free time, though!

Finally HERE'S ME AS A PONY, I would be called Dreamtime and my cutie mark is a wacky clock over a moon because I'm so busy and I love sleep. And I would be a pegasus pony because of totally valid reasons not because I just like wings or anything.

... and then I wonder why I'm still single

Busy busy busyyyy, but it could be a lot worse! One of my resolutions for this last trimester of college was to not totally die of stress (like I was doing a few months ago). So far so good, but things are far from over. :P

Life drawing again this week! Didn't feel like it went that great but whateverrr we all get off-days I suppose.

30 second poses

5 minutes

20 minutes

I watched Mulan the other night. Yeahhhh

A larger scale painting I've been working on for a few weeks! Daenerys Targaryen from A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones. I'm really into this series right now, was feeling very inspired. C: Tried a bunch of new things in this painting too, like painting dragons (wtf), actually sketching out a few compositions before jumping into Photoshop, and a new blending tool.
(this also got featured on the Daenerys Facebook fanpage! Yaaaaaaayyyy <3 )

And finally, started working on stickers for Animaritime! Here's Miku. ;)

Winter break finally comes to an end for me, but did I ever enjoy it. I spent a big portion of it sitting on my butt playing Skyrim/reading/watching movies, which is awesome, but I also began working on my cosplay for Animaritime 2012 -  Astrid from How to Train Your Dragon! Getting a headstart this year, so I don't stress out last minute like I did last year. :P

here's a progress shot of her shoulder-armor:

I still need to give them another coat of paint, do some refining, and add the little round spikes. And figure out how the heck I'm going to fasten them to the shirt. Make first, think later <--- story of my life.
(I used this armor-making tutorial! perfect for anyone who is absolutely incompetent at making anything--like me-- and doesn't want to buy expensive materials off the internet. I bought all of the stuff at Michaels, save for the cloth which I got at HomeHardware.)

Time for some art!

Quick figures... itching for some new material!

Attempt at more realistic faces without reference ughhhuuh

Nev in Skyrim nordic inspired clothing.

Because I watched 40 episodes of Inuyasha this week and it was amazing JUST SAYIN'. Working on two paintings right now, one of which is an environment WITH A CHARACTER kinda omggg, I kinda wanted to post a WIP but I feel like I curse myself because I almost never finish stuff when I post a WIP of it. hurdur

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas - I sure did! Didn't ask for anything in particular this year, so everything was a surprise. I got a few Disney classics, the Matrix trilogy + Animatrix, PJs, jewelry, lots of little goodies and chocolate to last me a lifetime (or, like, a week). Went shopping today with the money I got and got some clothes + the Scott Pilgrim movie, which I have been wanting for a while. The weather was awesome, got to see some family and spend time with friends, ate awesome food, so no complaints. :)

Plus, my laptop seems to be working okay again! Hoping it was just a fluke and it'll never happen again, but I will think twice about cleaning my trackpad from now on.

I've been doing a lot of sketching with colors, and I'm thinking of practicing this technique for the con (sketch commissions). First, some anatomy sketches! I think these were all timed at 2 minutes. And as much as I love using my big sketchbook, scanning things is a major pain because I have to scan each page like 3 times to get everything. :U

Couldn't go to life drawing because it was cancelled for the holidays, but I'm really looking forward to it... I'm seeing a lot of poses I've already drawn (and sometimes I draw them again, oops) since I'm always using the same website. Practice makes perfect I guess, but I'd like some new material! And more males, they are often either too clothed (to the point where you can't see the shape of their body anymore) or have really bad lighting.

OCs blablabla, Azure and Ve'yan proportions what are those? My fault for drawing them on two different days oh well

Some Dragon Age fanart! Have a Fenris and female mage Hawke. C:

This New Year's Eve's probably going to be a quiet one as usual, but I don't mind!

Finished painting, yay!

Anders from Dragon Age 2 -

I have been working on this for toooo long, painting time is rare nowadays! But this was a personal challenge, and I'm glad I saw it through to the end-- I never paint dudes, or actual scenes, or anything with more than one character in it. TA-DAAAA~

(I really want to play the new DLC: Mark of the Assassin! Christmas break come sooooooner lolol)

Some more realism, this time it's Jessica from True Blood. :)

Done on Photoshop CS4 + wacom tablet - ref'd from a photo.

I actually learned a lot from this! I compared it to the last painting I did of this kind, and I'm very pleased with the improvement. :')

I am currently working on some (more) dragon age 2 fanart, derp, but I'm thinking of painting something from Game of Thrones soon... I need to finish the 2nd book before season 2 airs omggggg

(I know I totally said I would slack on the fanart, but paintings like this are also studies!)

I've been thinking on trying to update at least once a week... saturdays sound pretty good!

Mostly original characters heeeere, new and old. Need to draw more dudes. )8 I had major scanner issues today... mr. canon hates me I swearrrr (I installed the software in english this time, not in spanish like it I accidentally did on my PC, so senor canon is now mr. canon)

Life drawing last week was weird, I realized 20 mins before the class began that all my drawing stuff was at college, so I drove like a maniac, sprinted to class to get it, then drove to the art store, only to get there and the model was 45 mins late. This is the only sketch that came out decently pretty much... and that's my tablet wire making a guest appearance in the lower left corner.

Some traditional fanart for practice! Isabela from Dragon Age 2. >:)

Finally updating, after a few days of procrastination.  Days in which I finished reading Game of Thrones, started watching the HBO series, started the second book, got some more sunburns, watched old Disney movies, went to some dance workshops that were amazing but now I am in so much pain, and etc. I think my time was well-spent. ;)

Here are the only two sketches that came out decently during this week's life drawing, bleeeeh. But yay for weird angles!

I've been working on my storyline a looooooot, and naming things... Nev's 11 siblings now all each have a name. 8D I... had way too much fun naming them all, seriously.

... and up there is one of her brothers, who is going to have somewhat of an important role. I totally blame is outfit on the fact that I was watching Hunchback of Notre-Dame as I was coming up with his character. C8<

.
First we have an old character of mine brought back to life, all shiny new with a new personality and everything. And then the result of me sketching while watching Game of Thrones, have a half-assed Daenerys. 8D

Some digital stuff~

I started reproducing a picture I took on my 30-hour long busride to Florida last year, but I never really got around to finishing it. ... I think this was in New York city? A part of it, anyway. XD

And a dam, because it came out of my head today. I like painting rocks. Trying out some new brushes/settings!

Monday, August 8, 2011

Working a lot lately... I'm happy about all the hours, but I am so tiiiired. ): I wish the weather would be better too! It's raining all the time.

The results from the last two life drawing classes! Starting off with some 10-30 second poses to get warmed up...

 A little more detail here!

Finally, some 15-20 minute poses. I started shading with black colored pencils ontop of my regular pencil shading... it gives off a faux-charcoal look and helps add contrasts, I find!

Inking practice! Because if there's anything I *really* fail at, it's inking. Can't do anything right on the first try. )8 But, I think this turned out nicely, and I might do it again soon!
... and finally some Dragon Age just because. I keep having my characters have love triangles with Anders and Fenris, apparently... it's amusing. (and if you couldn't tell, Hawke #1 sided with Meredith and her templars, Hawke #2 is going to side with Orsino and the mages)

Probably going to life drawing for the next two weeks, yaaaaay, so I may or may not have a billion anatomy studies coming up... depends on how the sessions go~

Thursday, August 4, 2011

Another finished painting-- I'm on a roll!

This time it's Merrill from Dragon Age 2. 8D ... I'm going to stop obsessing over this game soon,  I swear. I don't keep Merrill much in my party (I alwaysalwaysalways have Anders for the heals, either Fenris or Aveline as my tank, and then I alternate between Isabela, Varric and Merril for the other character... depending on the quest!), but I love her character! Especially the party banter dialogue she has, so precious. :)

Got some sketches piling up from life drawing, but I might wait until next week's session to scan them so I can put together a big anatomy sketch dump.
